How to create USB Stick from .DMG file

Let's learn, how to create usb stick for *.dmg file. There multiple mechanism to achieve this task. You may go with Ubuntu OS, Windows OS or MAC OS to do this.

Ubuntu: In Ubuntu, There is a tool available (Startup Disk Creator) to create bootable USB Stick. This reads .iso or disk image files. So, we need to create .iso or disk image file from .dmg file and then create bootable usb using 'Startup Disk Creator'.

• Install 'dmg2img' from terminal
• Open terminal
• Write 'sudo apt-get update' and hit enter
• Enter root password, if asked
• Now, Write 'sudo apt-get install dmg2img' and hit enter
• If all goes well, it will install 'dmg2img'
• In to terminal, write 'dmg2img <dmg-file-path>/<dmg-file-name>.dmg' and hit enter
• This will start converting .dmg file into .img file type.
• Once this is done, you may place .img to .iso, because both has same file table entries and directory structure.
• Now, Open 'Startup Disk Creator' and select .iso file of disk image file that is to be written into USB stick.
• Select USB Stick for writing and start writing process.

Windows : In windows, you are required to download TransMac from its official website.

• Install TransMac
• Start TransMac, where you will get list of connected USB Stick and other drivers.
• Right click on USB drive and select "Restore with Disk Image"
  
• Now, you will be asked to give *.dmg file path.
• If all goes fine, usb stick will be started writing. 
• This may take according *.dmg file size.

MAC : In Mac, Use Disk Utility to convert image into USB stick as:

1. Open Disk Utility.
2. Select the USB you want to make bootable.
3. Click on Erase –> Format and click on Mac OS Journaled Name and <Enter-Name>
4. Wait until it finishes erase.
5. Now, Click (on the left) your USB media you have just formatted then click Restore.
6. Next step for Source: Click on Image and select your DMG or ISO image For Destination and drag the USB media from the left to the textbox
7. Click on Restore and wait, it may take up to 10 minutes
8. If you note that your file isn’t bootable then download chameleon bootloader or chimera one and install it (with all customizations you need ) to your USB media
